The Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition is one of the longest standing music competitions in the world and has gained great prestige and recognition during its history. It has been held every five years at the end of September and beginning of October since 1927 at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. Success at the Chopin competition has launched the careers of many legendary pianists and, due to the enormous popularity of Chopin's music, this great piano tournament has enjoyed an enviable and well-deserved reputation for 80 years.
