In Castle Square you can admire Warsaw's most characteristic and oldest (erected in 1644) secular monument
-Sigismund's Column. It was erected to commemorate King Sigismund III Vasa, who moved the capital from Kraków to Warsaw in 1596.
From here you can begin a walking tour of the most representative part of the City - the Royal Tract, joining the Royal Castle with the Palaces in Łazienki and Wilanów. Although the tour will last only an hour, it will help you to find out more about the history of this unique city. The walk will enchant you with the atmosphere of various palaces, churches, bourgeois houses, governmental buildings, and the greenery of historic parks.
