Warsaw's municipal transport consists of trams, city buses, suburban buses and the underground (metro).

Buses and trams are the safest and the cheapest means of transport in big cities in Poland. You can use most of the lines between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. on working days.
Be aware of the fact that they are usually full in rush hours - it means between 11.00 p.m. and 4.30 a.m.
The bus and tram tickets can be bought in kiosks, ticket machines located at stops or you can buy them directly from drivers. In Warsaw the tickets fare is 2,40÷4,80 PLN. There is a possibility of buying 24h ticket - 7,20 PLN, 3-day ticket - 12,00 PLN or weekly city ticket - 24,00 PLN.

Warsaw's subway has one line, which joins the city centre (Pl. Wilsona) with its southern part: Ursynów (Kabaty).
The subway operates between 5 a.m. and 0.41 a.m., and the trains run every 3-4 minutes during peak hours, and every 4-6 minutes outside peak hours.

Travelling by train is rather cheap, comfortable and safe in Poland. There are four kinds of trains to be chosen: InterCity, EuroCity and express trains, fast trains and local trains. The local trains network is well developed and popular in the Warsaw. The train stations in most of the big cities offer: left-luggage offices, restaurants, bars, foreign exchange offices and telephone boxes. There are Polish international trains which ensure high quality services.
There are two classes of travel. Reservations are required on InterCity, EuroCity and express trains. The 'Polrailpass' (and 'Junior Polrailpass' for travellers under 26) is available for 8, 15, 21 or 30 days. This pass is available from Polorbis, travel agents and international rail ticket outlets, as well as from railway stations and travel agents within Poland. Children under four years of age travel free. Children aged 4-10 pay half fare.

Taxis are available all day long. They charge lower fares between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. and higher fares between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Be careful and if you do not want to risk being overcharged , take a radio taxi.
