Location
Situated in the eastern part of the Warsaw, in the right bank of thw Vistula River, Wesoła district covers the area of 23 sq km. The area of Wesoła, is comparable to Rembertów and Praga Południe. Compared to other districts, Wesoła is last but one in terms of the number of residents, before the 13,000-strong Wilanów. It is also one of the least urbanized districts-its population density is only 650 people per sq km. Wesoła is a remarkable addition to the green areas of Warsaw, as 60 percent of the former commune's surface is covered by forests, and a further 11 percent by croplands, a unique situation among Warsaw districts.
The Wesoła became a part of Warsaw Oct. 27 2002, the first meaningful change to the borders of the city since 1977, when Ursus was incorporated into Warsaw.
